Storyline:

An inspector hunts down Nobel Prize-winning Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda, who becomes a fugitive in his home country in the late 1940s for joining the Communist Party.

Şili'nin önde gelen yazar ve şairlerinden, aynı zaman Şili Komünist Partisi senatörü olan Pablo Neruda (Luis Gnecco), 1948'te devlet başkanı Gabriel González Videla'nın (Alfredo Castro) ülkedeki komünist faaliyetleri yasaklaması üzerine mecliste sert bir konuşma yaparak yasayı protesto eder. Bunun üzerine Neruda'yı yakalama emri çıkarılır ve arama ekibinin başına Oscar Peluchonneau (Gael García Bernal) getirilir. Peluchonneau, kendi ülkesinde kaçak durumuna düşen ve tam bir cadı avının hedefi haline gelen Neruda'yı Şili'nin her yerinde çılgın gibi arasa da arkadaşlarının desteğiyle sürekli izini kaybettiren Neruda'yı bulması hiç kolay olmayacaktır.
